Lemon Squeezy charges 5% + 50¢ per sale. Komerza charges 0% on every plan, with no product, team or revenue cap on any plan, and stores clearing over €200,000 a month. Here is the honest comparison, including where Lemon Squeezy is still the better choice.

What Lemon Squeezy costs

Lemon Squeezy sells your products as the merchant of record. That means it is the legal seller on the invoice, so it calculates, collects and remits digital sales tax and VAT on your behalf in every jurisdiction it operates in. That is genuinely hard, genuinely valuable, and it is what the percentage pays for.

An extra 1.5% applies to international transactions, and an extra 5% to payments recovered through abandoned-cart emails.

Komerza takes

Built for scale

Built for everyone. Engineered for the top end.

Globally, Komerza sellers do over €2 million a month, and the largest single stores clear over €200,000 a month. There is no product cap, no team cap and no revenue ceiling on any plan, so the store you start with is the store you scale, without a migration in the middle.

Where Lemon Squeezy stops

Lemon Squeezy's percentage buys tax handling, which is worth a lot to a small seller shipping worldwide. At volume the arithmetic changes: 5% plus 1.5% on international sales, on a store doing serious revenue, is a full-time salary paid to the platform every year. Komerza's largest stores clear over €200,000 a month on a flat plan, and keep the tax decision in their own hands.

What it costs you

A percentage and a flat monthly fee cross over at some point, and where that point falls depends entirely on your numbers. Put your own in and see what Lemon Squeezy and Komerza each cost at that volume.

When Lemon Squeezy is the better choice

  • You want somebody else to be legally responsible for sales tax and VAT. Lemon Squeezy is the merchant of record, so it files and remits on your behalf. Komerza is not, and that obligation stays with you.
  • You sell into many countries and do not want to register for tax in any of them. This is the single strongest reason to pay a percentage.
  • You would rather pay nothing in a month where you sell nothing. A percentage costs zero at zero sales; a subscription does not.

When to switch to Komerza

  • You already handle your own tax, or you sell somewhere the compliance burden is manageable, in which case the 5% buys you something you are not using.
  • Your international share is high. The extra 1.5% on non-US transactions compounds quickly on a business selling worldwide.
  • You use cart recovery. Komerza includes it on Business with no surcharge; on Lemon Squeezy every recovered sale costs an extra 5%.
  • You want your own processors with failover between them, crypto, Discord delivery, a reseller network or a store you can edit down to the source code, none of which Lemon Squeezy offers.

Common questions

What people ask when they are weighing Lemon Squeezy against Komerza, answered with the same figures as the table above.

5% plus 50¢ on each sale, with an additional 1.5% on international transactions and an additional 5% on payments recovered through abandoned-cart emails. There is no monthly subscription. Figures verified on 5 September 2026 from Lemon Squeezy's own pricing and fees documentation; check there for current rates.

No, and this is the most important difference between the two. Lemon Squeezy acts as merchant of record and takes on tax calculation, collection and remittance. Komerza does not: you are the seller of record, so registering for and remitting VAT or sales tax where you owe it stays your responsibility. If that liability is what you are paying 5% to remove, Lemon Squeezy is the better product for you.

On fees, past a modest volume, yes: 5% + 50¢ of everything you sell against a flat monthly plan. But fees are not the only cost. Factor in what handling your own tax compliance costs you in time or in an accountant before treating the fee difference as savings.

No. Abandoned-cart recovery is included on the Business plan and recovered sales are charged at the same 0% as any other order. Lemon Squeezy charges an additional 5% on payments recovered this way.
